Privacy
This page explains what information this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It describes what the site does today; it will be updated before anything changes.
Who we are
Beck Bites Back is run by Beck Johnson. You can contact me about anything on this page at beckbitesback@gmail.com.
What happens when you visit
The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify’s servers log each request, including your IP address and browser details, to deliver the site and keep it secure. The site itself doesn’t collect anything else when you read it: no analytics, no tracking, and no cookies (see Cookies).
Search runs in your browser. What you type isn’t sent to us or to anyone else.
If you email me
I’ll use your email address and what you send only to reply, and keep it only as long as the conversation needs.
The newsletter (opening soon)
If you sign up for new recipes by email, your email address goes to Kit, the service that stores the list and sends the emails, along with the page you signed up on. Kit is based in the United States.
- You confirm first. Kit emails you a link, and you’re on the list only once you click it. If you don’t, you get nothing more.
- What you get: an email when there’s a new recipe, written and sent by me. Nothing is sent automatically.
- Leaving: every email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes you off the list straight away, and you can ask me to delete your details from Kit entirely.
- Why I can do this: you asked to, by signing up and confirming. You can change your mind at any time.
Kit, like most email services, can record whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.
Advertising
This site is set up to show ads from Google AdSense. Ads aren’t running yet; this section says what happens when they are.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings. You can also read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- If you’re in the UK or the EU, Google’s consent message asks you first, and you can change your choice at any time. If you say no, the ads you see aren’t personalised.
Your rights
You can ask what information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, and object to how it’s used. Email beckbitesback@gmail.com. If you’re unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
